Vicky’s awesome homeade mud and stone pizza oven

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Vicky has used her architectural design and knowledge of mud hut building to create her very own stone oven in her backyard!

The first “test” pizzas were officially cooked in the oven.

Many people have offered advice and have been inspired by Vicky to build their very own oven!

Coneybeare at West Coast Green

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Coneybeare was invited by the Green Career Institute and had a table in the jobs section at West Coast Green last Friday, October 2nd. Victoria Betancourt and Sabrina Dove met dozens of green building and renewable energy enthusiasts and job seekers.

Check out the West Coast Green website at http://www.westcoastgreen.com

It was great to share a table with Duncan Cleminshaw, Director of Career Services at the Green Career Institute and to run into GCI’s Director of Curriculum, Raphaelle Richarde. It was also nice to see Brian Johnson of JobTrain in East Palo Alto, California.

Architecture and green building have been passions of mine all of my life.  I’m a trained architect and have been involved in the US Green Building Council for years. Hence, it’s personally exciting for me as Coneybeare enters the green building and renewable energy spheres…

Armenia, Colombia is truly my second home. I lived in Colombia for many years before I moved to southern California and I return there as often as I can. Most recently, I’ve been manifesting my lifelong dream of building an eco-resort from scratch in a town deep in the mountains of Colombia, called Armenia.

While my architecture knowledge is being tested in this endeavor, I also had the chance to brush up on my green building skills by attending a mud-structure course in Portland, Oregon earlier this summer. I will continue to keep you abreast of developments in the green building and renewable energy industries while I share my personal process with this eco-resort.  More later….
