Francisco Machuca, Ph.D., Green Career Institute and ConeybeareDr. Francisco Machuca is the co-founder of the Green Career Institute (GCI), a renewable energy training company and the co-founder of Solar Staffing, Inc. He also serves as the chief solar technical advisor to Coneybeare. Dr. Machuca was the principle instructional designer of a 40 hour technical curriculum in Solar PV technology, PV system installation, solar design, and estimating\sizing systems for GCI, presently an Underwriters Laboratory (UL) joint partnership with GCI.
Dr. Machuca received his BS in mathematics and physics from the University of California, Berkeley and his MS and PhD in electrical engineering, with a focus on semiconductor device physics, material science and processing, surface science metrology, and charged particle optics, from Stanford University.
Dr. Machuca held research and engineering positions at Applied Materials and KLA-Tencor, where he developed high-speed inspection equipment and a maskless, multi-E-beam lithography tool. Most recently, he was the lead Senior Staff Scientist at a solar technology start up, where he created IP and trade secrets for improving efficiencies of large scale solar paneling and novel solar cell fabrication techniques.
Dr. Machuca is an active technical advisor on "critical path" issues, products and services that are core enabling technologies supporting the growth of the Solar Industry and leading to wide spread adoption for solar energy applications globally. Actively expanding knowledge through: UL\GCI for technical training and global standards, Orion Metrology for disruptive solar measurement techniques, and Coneybeare for solar workforce placement strategies.
